High-Voltage MSD for EV Battery Packs, PDU and High-Voltage Systems
The MSD-DA Series features a rear-mount installation design, an integrated signal control pin, and an ergonomic handle-assisted mating structure. It is available with or without an integrated fuse, providing different voltage and current configurations for various high-voltage applications.
With a compact structure, reliable electrical performance, IP68 protection after mating, and competitive pricing, the MSD-DA Series provides a cost-effective solution for high-voltage circuit isolation and maintenance protection.

What Is a MSD?

A MSD is a manually operated high-voltage disconnect device used to isolate the high-voltage circuit of an electric vehicle or battery system.
During maintenance or service, the MSD can be manually disconnected to separate the high-voltage power circuit, helping service personnel work on the vehicle or battery system more safely.

Depending on the system architecture, an MSD can typically be installed in:
--Battery pack enclosure
--High-voltage PDU
--High-voltage junction box
--Integrated power electronics or controller systems

For commercial electric vehicles equipped with multiple battery packs, multiple MSDs may be required, depending on the battery architecture and high-voltage circuit design.

MSD-DA Series Key Features
Rear-Mount Installation:
The MSD-DA Series is designed specifically for rear-mount installation. This configuration allows the MSD to be integrated into battery boxes, PDUs, and other high-voltage enclosures where rear installation is preferred.
Handle-Assisted Mating:
The integrated handle provides additional assistance during mating and unmating operations. The ergonomic design makes the MSD easy to operate while helping ensure proper engagement between the plug and receptacle.
Integrated Signal Control Pin:
The MSD-DA Series incorporates a signal control pin that can be used as part of the high-voltage interlock or signal monitoring circuit.
This allows the vehicle or battery management system to detect the MSD connection status and implement corresponding safety control logic.
Fuse or Non-Fuse Configuration
The MSD-DA Series is available in two configurations:
With integrated fuse:
Rated voltage: up to 750 VDC
Fuse rated current options: 400 A, 500 A, 550 A and 630 A

Without integrated fuse:
Rated voltage: up to 1500 VDC
The fuse configuration can combine circuit disconnection and overcurrent protection in a compact MSD solution, while the non-fuse version can be used when overcurrent protection is provided elsewhere in the high-voltage system.
High-Current Capability:
The MSD-DA Series uses blade-type contacts to provide reliable electrical connection and high-current carrying capability.
The contact system can withstand 300 A for a short period, making the MSD suitable for high-current EV and battery applications.
High Protection Rating:
After the plug and receptacle are fully mated, the MSD-DA Series provides an IP68 protection rating.
The individual receptacle also provides IPX8 and IPXXB protection, helping protect the high-voltage connection against water ingress and accidental contact.
Competitive Cost:
Compared with many high-current MSD solutions available on the market, the MSD-DA Series offers a cost-effective alternative while maintaining the key electrical, mechanical, and environmental performance required for new energy vehicle applications.
This makes it particularly suitable for applications requiring a balance between performance, reliability, and overall system cost.
